This is the role that Ibra is expected to take at Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic met with AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale recently to begin laying the groundwork for a possible return to the club.

Calciomercato.com details how the 41-year-old Swede, who hung up his boots at the end of last season, met with the red and black owner at Milanello last week. Cardinale reiterated his desire for Ibrahimovic to return to the club, keen to have his presence in the environment.

Cardinale knows that Milan needs a figure who knows Milanello well and how the dynamics of the dressing room work, something that has been missing since the departure of Paolo Maldini in the summer, reports KosovaPress.

The most likely option at the moment seems to be for Ibrahimovic to return to work closely with Stefano Pioli, perhaps as team manager, but the Swede does not want to rush into a decision.

The former striker is keen to understand the new structure and system that will allow him to help the team, as well as the limits of his potential role.

The two sides are expected to meet again between November and December to further discuss Ibrahimovic's possible return to Milan.
