The member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) from the ranks of the LVV, Sami Kurteshi, said that the problems with the announcement of the preliminary results were of a technical nature, due to the failure of the digital system. According to him, experts from the Kosovo Police and the Prosecutor's Office are now dealing with this problem.
However, he said that despite all these problems mentioned, there is no room for concern.
Kurteshi also said that ballots, counting forms from polling stations, and other materials from polling stations have all been preserved.
"The recount of all ballot boxes at the Municipal Counting Centers has now begun. All ballot boxes from polling stations will be recounted. Every vote will be recounted for political entities," he wrote on Facebook.
According to him, all errors and omissions can be easily identified and eliminated."Every citizen, every voter who identifies, notices or finds any error, omission in the published votes, finds concrete evidence, should contact the CEC, whether in the preliminary results or after the recount. I kindly ask them to contact the CEC by phone, email or in person, providing concrete evidence," he wrote.
In the meantime, according to him, after the arrival of all the votes from the diaspora, the verification and counting of votes from the diaspora, conditional votes and votes from people with special needs will begin at the CNR, in a public, transparent manner under the watchful eye of local and international observers.
He finally said that "the will of the people, of the citizen, of the voter, is inviolable, unchangeable and inalienable and will be protected with all means at the state's disposal! There is no place or reason for concern."
On the evening of February 9, after the closing of the polling stations, the Central Election Commission began publishing data on the preliminary results, but then technical problems began to occur and the entire system crashed, making access to the CEC platform impossible. Regarding this CEC problem, the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor announced that the Basic Prosecution in Pristina, yesterday, after receiving information about the non-functioning of the CEC platform, has requested from this institution to obtain the necessary information to verify whether there are elements of the commission of a criminal offense or not. On February 9, the citizens of Kosovo voted to elect their representatives for the next four years. This electoral process was considered democratic and peaceful.
