The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, congratulated all citizens on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of independence.

After paying tribute at the "Adem Jashari" Memorial Complex, while remembering the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for freedom, he underlined that on this day everyone should be inspired and pledge to work harder for Kosovo.

He also remembered the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army who are being held in The Hague, wishing that this will be the last year that Independence Day is marked without their presence.

To mark the 17th birthday of the state of Kosovo, a series of activities have been organized today, including tributes and cultural events.

The historic session was attended by 109 MPs, out of 120, who also signed the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo.

Serbian MPs were not present at this session.

The declaration of Kosovo's independence was made by the then Prime Minister, Hashim Thaçi.
