The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, reacted after the statement of the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, who said that they are considering the possibility of transferring the financial means to the parents and they they buy textbooks for their children.
Krasniqi wrote that now, "in addition to the increase in the cost of living, through the increase in the price of energy and basic food products, unemployment and massive corruption, parents burdened economically by the misrule of this government must also buy books for their children" .
He said that the issue of school textbooks was resolved when Hashim Thaçi was prime minister, providing free books.
"Over 300 Kosovar families will be forced to buy books for their children - unsure if they will ever get their money back. This issue was resolved about 15 years ago by former Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, easing the burden of schooling for Kosovar parents by providing free books," he wrote.
In a media conference, Minister Arbërie Nagavci said that they are considering the possibility of transferring the financial means to the checking accounts of the parents so that they can buy the textbooks for their children.
According to her, the supply of textbooks has been a challenge since the publishing houses have increased the prices.
