The Central Election Commission still does not know exactly why their online platform did not work on the night of February 9, but the institution already has two versions for this problem.

A member of this Commission, Arianit Elshani, says that there is a version from the economic operator and that of the CEC itself regarding the website's downfall.

Elshani says that one thing is certain: during the vote counting, the field operator in Peja and Podujeva entered incorrect results in the CEC application.

"We have two versions, we have the operator's version and we have the CEC version. We are now compiling an analysis from all the actors involved in this case and from other Kosovo institutions to compile a clear report on what happened on election day. We are sure of one thing that happened: two field operators who were present at the voting centers and who tabulated erroneous results, one case was recorded in Peja and another in Podujeva, who placed more votes for a political subject on their iPads and the CEC application, 112 thousand in one place and about 40 thousand votes for a political subject," he stressed.

A possible attack on the Central Election Commission platform or a cleaning of the internal network between the CEC servers and the platform itself are being seen as two possibilities that have led to the non-functioning of the CEC website after the end of the voting process.

"Two other things are now suspected, one for an attack that could have been made to the CEC platform and the other is a matter of cleaning the internal network between the CEC servers and the platform itself. We had the results in their entirety on the platform, but we were unable to broadcast them to the public, as it also caused the website to crash," Elshani said.

CEC member from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Arianit Elshani, says that the economic operator that handles the server is not contracted by the Central Election Commission.

On the evening of February 9, after the closing of the polling stations, the Central Election Commission began publishing data on the preliminary results, but then technical problems began to occur and the entire system crashed, making access to the CEC platform impossible.

Regarding this CEC problem, the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor has announced that the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, yesterday, after receiving information about the non-functioning of the CEC platform, has requested from this institution the necessary information to verify whether there are elements of the commission of a criminal offense or not.

On February 9, the citizens of Kosovo voted to elect their representatives for the next four years. The electoral process was considered democratic and peaceful.
