Managers of the public company KOSTT, have declared after the meeting with the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, that there is currently no shortage of electricity in the country. However, according to them, the electrical network is coping with a large load, which has "touched the maximum limits".
On the other hand, Minister Rizvanolli requested from KOSTT and KEDS maximum commitment for regular supply of electricity and addressing problems in the energy network.
"During the meeting, I conveyed all the citizens' complaints that we have had over the last few days regarding electricity supply, and especially in certain areas that have been most affected. I asked the operators to do their best for the field teams to remediate as much as possible all locations where there are problems. It is also important that the investments at the transmission level that are being made, such as the Ferizaj substation, which is the region that has the most problems, continue with the highest possible intensity in order to start work as soon as possible. As far as I was informed, this is expected to be within a few days or weeks. I also had a request that during this time they have more frequent and clearer communication with the citizens about the problems, so that we can help the citizens to improve the supply situation. Until then, we demand maximum commitment from the network operators", said Rizvanolli.
The Chief Executive Officer of KOSTT, Evetar Zeqiri, emphasized that the production is at its maximum, while he reiterated that the problem lies in the load on the network.
"We as the Transmission Operator would like to clarify the public opinion, citizens, businesses that the electrical energy system is facing extraordinary loads as a result of the economic development that has occurred in the last year, as a result of the ever-increasing demand for energy and as result of the electrification of our economies. KOSTT is doing its best to operate with our capacities. We are facing some bottlenecks only in certain municipalities, respectively Ferizaj is the narrowest bottleneck. Also Malisheva and Fushë Kosova...08'14 There is no shortage of electricity, production is at its maximum. We are operating with four blocks, except for one unit that is not in operation of TC "Kosova A". KESKO is importing the missing energy. KOSTT is using all its balancing capacities with Albania. So, it is not a question of a lack of energy, but only of a load that has touched the maximum limits of the network. Every breakdown causes the need for reductions in those certain areas", emphasized Zeqiri.Rizvanolli also spoke about energy efficient equipment and their subsidies.
