Kosovo recorded a trade deficit of 17.5% in December 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, respectively 561.5 million euros compared to the deficit of 477.7 million euros in 2023, while exports cover imports by 11%, according to data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) on export-import flows for December 2024.

Exports of goods in December 2024 were worth 69.6 million euros, while imports were worth 631.1 million, representing an increase of 6.5% for exports, as well as a 16.2% increase for imports, compared to the same period in 2023.

Exports consist of 20.3% base metals and articles thereof, 14.9% prepared foods, beverages and tobacco. 11.5% plastics, rubber and articles thereof. 7.3% miscellaneous manufactured articles, 59.8% mineral products, etc.

While 16.6% of imports are mineral products, 13.1% machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, 12.7% prepared foods, beverages and tobacco, 12.4% means of transport, 7.7% basic metals and articles thereof, etc.

Kosovo's exports to EU countries

Kosovo's exports to the EU reached 23.6 million euros, or about 34% of total exports, with an increase of 26,6%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were Germany 10%, Austria 5%, the Netherlands 2.8%, etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries were around 269.8 million euros or 42.7% of total imports, with an increase of 5.7%. The imports with the highest share were from Germany 14.8%, Italy 5%, Greece 4.2%, etc.

Exports of Kosovo with CEFTA countries

Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries reached 33.2 million euros or 47.7% of total exports, with an increase of 19%. The main export partners from CEFTA countries were Albania 21.6%, North Macedonia 14.8%, Serbia 5.5%, Montenegro 4.8%.

Imports from CEFTA countries reached 99.6 million euros, or 15.8% of total imports, with an increase of 44.1%. The countries with the highest import share were North Macedonia 5.9%, Albania 5.5%, Serbia 3.1%.

Kosovo's exports to other countries of the world reached 12.7 million euros or 18.3%. The most important export partners of these countries were Switzerland with 7.4% and the USA with 3.5%.  

Kosovo's imports from other countries of the world amounted to 261.7 million euros or 41.5%. The countries with the highest import share were Turkey (13.8%) and China (13%).
