Kosovo has become a member of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

This is what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora announced today, which informed that the Deputy Prime Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kreshnik Ahmeti, thanked the Director of the Division of Treaties, Jules van Eijndhoven for the constructive role of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as a depositary state. for the convention on the establishment of the International Commission on Missing Persons.

"Today, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mr. Kreshnik Ahmeti, accompanied by the Chairman of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, Mr. Andin Hoti, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Dren Doli, submitted the accession instruments of the Republic of Kosovo to the International Commission on Missing Persons (International Commission on Missing Persons) based in The Hague, which marks the final step for the membership of the Republic of Kosovo as a member of this important international organization . In the ceremony organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands for the delivery of the instruments for the accession of the Republic of Kosovo to this international organization, the deputy minister, Mr. Ahmeti, thanked the Director of the Division of Treaties, Mr. Jules van Eijndhoven for the constructive role of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as depositary state for the convention on the establishment of the International Commission on Missing Persons. At the same time, Mr. Ahmeti thanked the present ICMP officials for their commitment and exemplary contribution to Kosovo for more than two decades. Mr. Ahmeti at the same time reiterated the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo to the promotion and advancement of the role of this organization expressed in the meeting with the Executive Director of the Commission, Mr. Kathryne Bomberger, held on May 22 of this year, in which case the Commission was informed about the steps that the Republic of Kosovo had taken to become part of this organization," it was announced in the communique.

The International Commission on Missing Persons is an intergovernmental organization established in 1996, which addresses the issue of missing persons in circumstances of armed conflicts, human rights violations, natural disasters, organized crime, illegal migration, etc. .

The Commission is headquartered in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in the city of The Hague, and is the only international organization tasked exclusively with working on the issue of missing persons.

The International Commission on Missing Persons has also been intensively engaged in Kosovo, during and after the last war, playing an extraordinary role in solving the cases of missing persons during the war in Kosovo and providing the necessary support in the identification process of mortal remains through the use of scientific methods of identification.
