Edin Kolgeci has taken over the leadership of the Kosovo Handball Federation (FHK), succeeding Eugen Saraqini. Kolgeci received the trust of the majority of the federation's delegates at the Electoral Assembly on January 30.

In his first interview as president of this federation, given to KosovaPress, Kolgeci spoke about the tasks that await him immediately in the coming weeks, starting with the two international events in Pristina - the IHF Trophy championships for the U18 and U20 age groups, events that the European Federation has entrusted to the FHK.

There will also be a direct commitment regarding the National Handball Team A, which is on its way to qualifying for the European Championship and in March there will be two decisive matches against Ukraine. Kolgeci is convinced that this success can be achieved if the players give their all.

Regarding long-term objectives, Kolgeci says that in this mandate he will work to introduce the sport of handball into primary schools through the curriculum.

He has criticized state institutions for the lack of necessary investments in infrastructure even 26 years after the war.

Within a few months, the Handball Federation received two bitter pieces of news, the death of secretary Izet Gjinovci and financial officer Valbona Mehmeti. Kolgeci considers these two losses to be huge for handball and sport in Kosovo.

In his first term as president, Kolgeci said that he will also focus on increasing the quality of coaches and referees, by bringing various international seminars to Kosovo that contribute to the advancement of their work.
