China has announced that it will impose additional customs duties on some products imported from the country, in response to US President Donald Trump's decision to impose additional tariffs of 10 percent on all products imported from this country.

A statement from the Finance Ministry said an additional customs duty of 10 percent will be imposed on products including crude oil, agricultural equipment, high-emission vehicles and trucks from the US and 15 percent on coal and natural gas imports, Anadolu writes.

The ministry noted that the additional taxes will take effect from February 10.

The Ministry of Commerce announced that exports of critical minerals such as tungsten, tellurite, bismuth and molybdenum to the US will also be put under control.

China's State Administration for Market Regulation said it has launched an investigation into US internet company Google for violating anti-monopoly regulations.

US President Trump, with a decree he signed on February 1, imposed additional tariffs of 25 percent on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10 percent tariff on imports from China.

A statement from the White House emphasized that the increase in tariffs on China was due to the failure of Chinese authorities to control the flow of fentanyl, the raw material for synthetic opium, and its precursor chemicals into the US.

The statement also listed China's "intellectual property theft, forced technology transfer and other unreasonable behavior" as well as "increased irregular immigration from China, including people on the terrorism watch list" among the reasons for the additional tax.

Trump announced that he would delay the entry into force of tariffs on Canada and Mexico by one month in exchange for these countries tightening their border controls, while no delay was given to China.
