There is a popular revolt in Serbia, says the Albanian MP in Belgrade, Shaip Kamberi. In the event that Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçiq wins the battle with the citizens, he says, it will lead Serbia in the direction of dictatorship.
The streets of the capital of Serbia are filled with counter-protesters Vuçiqit and the government there.
Over 100 people took to the streets in an organization of students and farmers' unions.
There, responsibility is being held for the collapse of the roof of the train station in Nov Sad, where 15 people lost their lives.
The popular revolt of the citizens, according to Kamberi, comes from the unpreparedness of Vuçiqit to talk to disaffected groups.
"The regime expects that the end-of-year holidays will bring a slight decrease in protests, because people are dealing with protests, but on the other hand, those who are behind the scenes of organizing the protests should know that if it is interrupted, the banter stops, they will also to rest there", Kamberi declares for KosovaPress.
In an effort to prevent protests, the Government of Serbia has extended the winter school holidays by starting them almost a week earlier.
Occasional violence has accompanied the protests, while pro-government groups have tried to prevent the protests.
"What is important for the next year is to see what will be the reaction of the European Union to the protests and to the regime of Vuçiqit as a whole, what position will they take and what position will the new administration of the United States of America take in relation to a state that claims to be part of the European Union, that receives finances from the EU but that has its mind on empires of the east, either in Russia or in China", he concludes.
Vuçiq, which is accused of increasingly autocratic rule maintains close ties to Russia and China./Sh. Pajaziti
