MPs from the opposition parties have submitted a criminal report to the Special Prosecutor's Office against the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci. The lawsuit was filed by the members of the investigative commission for school textbooks, who consider that the ministry committed a legal violation in the process of subsidizing textbooks.
The Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, herself reacted to this case, claiming that it is precisely the interests of the parties that sent the criminal report to the Prosecutor's Office that have been affected.
"PDK-LDK-AAK, united as always, have today filed a criminal complaint against me for subsidizing students for textbooks and school materials. Much to be expected from these entities, when we know exactly which interest groups we have touched. The backlash started the day we broke the 20-year practice of purchasing millions of textbooks with single-source contracts, full of loopholes and opportunities for abuse. We created a transparent process of direct subsidy, where every form and possibility of abuse was eliminated... However, without completing the work there and without approving the Report of the Investigative Commission, they have turned to the Special Prosecutor's Office with a criminal report. This criminal report will be rejected, just like the previous one that was rejected last week", says the reaction of the minister Nagavci on Facebook.
The chairman of the investigative commission, Shemsedin Dreshaj, said that the commission's report is the basis for further investigation by the Special Prosecutor's Office "regarding the responsibility of the individuals who were involved in this process".
