The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has recommended the suspension of three police officers after they are suspected of the criminal offense of "Abuse of official position or authority" in connection with their reaction to a fight. They are officers from the Podujeva police station.

"The incident of the fight between the suspected parties is reported to have occurred on January 16, 2025 in Podujeva where several people were physically fighting with each other. Police officers passed by that segment of the road in a private vehicle [but in official uniform] at that moment and contacted the parties involved in this case," the IPK said in a media release.

The PIK added that based on initial investigative actions, it is suspected that these police officers did not arrest any of the suspects and did not take any notes or other action "so the suspected parties left the scene."

"The suspicions of PIK investigators are that this happened because one of the police officers had family ties with one of the suspects," the announcement states.
