The head of the Kosovo Police Union, Imer Zeqiri, reacted after the decision of the General Assembly of this union to dismiss him, saying that he was not informed about this meeting and that this was done on purpose.
He says that in the communique confirming the decision to dismiss him, the reasons were not even mentioned.
"Actions like today's prove the intentions for a "coup", prepared for some time and are a continuation of behind-the-scenes by individuals in the Kosovo Police Union and around it. Since I have been at the head of the union, the achievements are evident and public, therefore I am proud of my work and commitment", said Zeqiri.
He states that he would accept any kind of decision that would be taken by the assembly that would be called according to the SPK Statute, "but not behind his back".

Full reaction:
Today, 19.05.2024, I, as the president of the Kosovo Police Union, learned from the media that a meeting of the General Assembly of this union was held where it was decided to dismiss me.
I was not notified of such a meeting, made intentionally to prevent my participation, and as such it is contrary to the Statute, as the highest legal act of the Kosovo Police Union as well as contrary to ethical principles noble for such a structure.
I regret that the Union, for which I worked with great dedication and commitment to advance the position, well-being and rights of all members of the police, has turned into a mechanism for individuals to realize individual interests, which will be proven meanwhile.
I read the communiqué issued and it is surprising how it does not mention the reasons why it was decided to fire me. How can there be a dismissal without giving the reasons and without making them public?
As for the proceedings against me, of which you are informed, there is no final decision. The basic principle of presumption of innocence has been rejected today by those who have so diligently made a deliberate decision under the pretext of silently violating this principle. In this case, the 60 delegates who raised their hands in favor of dismissal, do you think they know that they have committed self-judgment?!
In a regular process with my presence, I would accept any kind of decision that would be taken by the assembly, which would be called according to the SPK Statute. But not so behind his back. Meetings called in violation of the Statute and decisions arising from them are unenforceable.
Actions like today's prove the intentions for a "coup", prepared for some time and are a continuation of behind-the-scenes by individuals in the Kosovo Police Union and around it. Since I have been at the head of the union, the achievements are evident and public, so I am proud of my work and commitment.
I thank the members of the union and members of the police for the many supportive messages and calls that they have sent me these days.
