The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has accused the justice system of abusing their powers to hinder her work and the reform in justice. After being interviewed for over two hours by the Special Prosecutor's Office, she said that she was asked about her allusions that prosecutors and judges in certain cases have requested informal meetings as well as the statement on the case of Faton Hajrizi and the recent escapes from Kosovo prisons.

Haxhiu told reporters that she explained to the police investigators two cases with specific names where prosecutors and judges requested meetings, but she said that she and the government do not work that way.

"I explained that we as a government do not function like this, not like the past. We have an obligation to address reforms in justice, as you know we are working continuously. It seems that someone is getting in the way, that's why the Special Prosecutor's Office is trying to get in the way of my work. We have seen that after any statement I made, they immediately gave authorization to the police to take my statement as a witness.... The reaction comes after the discussions we had with the responsible bodies. I am surprised by the fact that the prosecutor's office wakes up after my reaction on the social network on Facebook, since it had to be constantly alert for tendencies to destabilize Kosovo and the region, as well as after continuous terrorist attacks, such as the case in Banjska and recently in Ujman. But it seems that the prosecutor's office wakes up only after my statements. The prosecutor's office spends more time on the Facebook profile than dealing with its work and responsibilities... 08:03 I have seen that there have been continuous attempts with such actions. One way they misuse the powers they have to stop me is through the invitations they send me continuously", she said.

According to her, the two-day interview by the Special Prosecutor's Office could have been different, as there could have been an institutional cooperation and not an attempt to invite her as a witness regarding her statement regarding the Hajrizi case and other fugitives..

The head of the Ministry of Justice said that after the escape of Faton Hajrizi from the Correctional Center in Smekronica, they had intensive meetings with other security bodies, but said that this case could be related to some other developments in Serbia.

According to her, the place where Hajrizi killed the Serbian policeman is only 9 kilometers from where the lithium mines are expected to be built, where, as she declares, this has influenced there to be as few voices against the mine agreement as possible.

In addition, Haxhiu, speaking about Hajriz, who was killed by the Serbian police, said that a person who has committed serious crimes in Kosovo cannot be called a hero.

As for the return of his body to Kosovo, she said that this is not the competence of her department, but added that a re-autopsy of his body will be required.

Regarding these issues, Minister Haxhiu was also interviewed yesterday by the Special Prosecutor's Office.
