PDK's candidate for prime minister, Bedri Hamza, has spoken out against a coalition with the Vetëvendosje Movement.
In a press conference, Hamza, while thanking citizens for the trust they have placed in this party, said that if the leading party cannot create institutions, the opposition is ready to take over the government.
A day after the elections, he said that LVV had lost a large number of votes, while PDK had increased.
"The election result is that the majority of Albanian citizens want a new government. The procedures are clear. It is up to the first party to try to create the institutions, which is why we respect this procedure. If it cannot, the opposition, as the winner of these elections, can take over the new government," declared Hamza.
Asked whether the issue of electing the president will also be discussed, he said that this issue is another legal and constitutional deadline. As for the drop in votes in some municipalities for the PDK, he said that they did not compete for municipalities."We did not compete for municipalities, but for national elections, and in this case, PDK has increased from 148 thousand votes it had in 2021, and is expected to have over 200 thousand votes," said Hamza.
Based on preliminary data and the CEC's counting of 96.88 percent of the votes, the Vetëvendosje Movement won the February 9 elections with 41.10 percent of the votes, followed by PDK with 22.25 percent, LDK with 17.77, AAK 7.46 percent and Serbian List 4.01 percent.
