US envoy for special missions Richard Grenell has responded to Prime Minister Albin Kurti from a distance regarding the latter's statements about relations between the US and Kosovo.
Albin Kurti denied to Istog Channel that there was a breakdown in relations between the two countries, saying that "things have never been better."
"What can I do? You know very well that my whole life I have been an activist, not an analyst. We have these studios that study what he said and why he looked at it that way. We have never had better jobs. We are buying Black Hawk helicopters after purchasing the Javelin system. Kosovo has received the largest grant ever from America during our mandate. We have made progress with America when our relationship with America is not only diplomatic, but also in defense, development and energy," Kurti said.
Grenell commented in a post on the social network X, calling this "delusional," which means false beliefs or judgments about external reality that are held despite irrefutable evidence to the contrary.
"Relations have never been lower. Albin Kurti has been condemned by the first Trump administration, the Biden administration, NATO, the EU, the US Embassy, Antony Blinken, etc.," he said.Grenell on Kurti: He is not trustworthy, don't be fooled • KosovaPress
Prime Minister Kurti also said at the closing rally of Vetëvendosje tonight in Pristina that his government "has never jeopardized relations with the United States and the European Union." According to him, there have never been broader and more substantive relations.
"Our government has never jeopardized relations with the United States of America and the European Union; on the contrary, it has never had broader, deeper, more substantive, more qualitative relations with our allies, partners, and international friends from the West than with our government," Kurti said.
Recall, Grenell had previously said that "the Kurti government was not credible during Trump's first term, nor during Biden's term."
