Referee Luca Marelli believes Inter deserved a penalty after Strahinja Pavlović's challenge on Marcus Thuram in the second half.

Inter and Milan drew 1-1 in the third derby of the season on Sunday.

There was a controversial episode in the second half of the Milan-Inter derby when Thuram sparked an Inter counterattack but was challenged by Milan defender Pavlovic.

The Rossoneri center-back collided with Thuram's thigh after entering the Rossoneri area and before Theo Hernandez won the ball with a sliding tackle, KosovaPress reported.

According to former referee Marelli, as reported by “PassioneInter”, Theo Hernandez's kick was not punishable. However, the Nerazzurri should be awarded a penalty, as Pavlović clearly collided with the Inter striker inside the area.

Inter remains second in the Serie A table, two points behind leader Napoli, KosovaPress reported.

Tijjani Reijnders gave the Rossoneri the lead in the first half, but his compatriot Stefan de Vrij equalized in extra time.
