The Director of Safety and Emergencies in the Municipality of Pristina, Lulzim Fushtica, stated that the causes of the fire in the former “Kino ABC” building are unknown. He told the media that nearby buildings are not at risk and noted that there was a lot of debris there.

At the moment, the "Migjeni" street where the former cinema building is located is blocked by the Kosovo Police. Professional firefighting teams are still trying to stop the fire.

He announced that the roof material is asbestos and that they have increased the security perimeter to avoid injuries.

"At the moment, no building is at risk. We are monitoring, we have notified residents to be on alert in case we need to evacuate, but at the moment we do not need to... It is the roof that is asbestos, but there is also a lot of waste. There is a lot of waste that has been in this space, so we have to be careful about it and we have increased the security perimeter because the material that is there can explode and can even injure a random passerby," he added.

Kosovo Police have closed 'Migjeni' street, due to a fire that engulfed the roof of a building on this street.
