During the period 2021-2024, the Office of the Energy Regulator has made significant progress in increasing transparency in the process of determining electricity tariffs in Kosovo.

So says the report published by the consortium of civil society organizations "CorrWatch" (GLPS, GAP and INDEP), on the topic "Transparency in the determination of electricity tariffs in Kosovo".

The researcher of the Institute for Development Policy, Naim Bujupi, said that in general the Office of the Regulator has been transparent during the process of determining electricity tariffs.

However, from this report, the delays in setting the fees in the absence of members of the ERO Board appear to be problematic for the establishment of tariffs in 2021.

Bujupi said that throughout the year 2021, during the determination of electricity tariffs, there is interest from interested parties to give their comments.

Regarding the determination of electricity prices for the year 2023, there was not much interest in comments from citizens, although it was the biggest increase in electricity prices.

Despite this, Naim Bujupi from INDEP emphasized that ERO has been transparent in implementing its plan.

Despite the improvements in terms of transparency, INDEP recommends to the Energy Regulatory Office to provide more information to consumers regarding the additional cost of the tariff increase.

The research of COrrWatch regarding the transparency for the determination of electricity tariffs was supported by the British Embassy in Kosovo and included the period 2021-2024.

Some of the recommendations emerging from this research are related to more regular and detailed reporting by energy companies, more comprehensive consultations, and active involvement of consumers at every stage of the process.

In recent years, due to the energy crisis in the world, Kosovo has raised electricity tariffs, decisions which caused dissatisfaction among consumers.
