The use and enforcement of the offside law seems to have become more controversial since VAR came on the scene.

FIFA has announced that a new semi-automatic offside system will be implemented at the Qatar 2022 World Cup in November this year.

The new system, which should be able to build a 3D representation of the game within seconds and send an alert to the referee to determine if a player was offside or not, reports KosovaPress.

As mentioned by "Diario AS", it is not yet clear if the technology will be used during the 90 minutes or if it will only be applied during VAR reviews.
