The birth of the newest state will be marked this year with a series of activities.
Meanwhile, the flags of Kosovo and Albania wave in the main squares of Pristina.
The agenda of activities to mark the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence includes a festive meeting of the Kosovo Government, the raising of the Kosovo Flag, tributes at the Monument to the Missing and the Memorial of Murdered Children and the Heroines Monument, homages to the graves of former President Ibrahim Rugova, national cause activist Adem Demaçi, the "Adem Jashari" Memorial Complex, Prekaz.
The Kosovo Security Force and Kosovo Police will parade in George Bush Square. The Independence Concert will be held in Skanderbeg Square, while the exhibition "Kosovo Independence in the Albanian Press" will also be opened in the Pjetër Bodani Library.Other central activities include the first scientific conference on crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, a state reception by the president, speaker of parliament and prime minister of Kosovo, and a solemn concert by the Kosovo Philharmonic.
Various activities to mark this day will also be held in other municipalities.
Kosovo declared independence on February 17, 2008, which has so far been recognized by more than 110 countries around the world.
