On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the death of the heroes Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu, the Government of Kosovo organized a memorial academy in Pristina. Heads of state and family members of the two martyrs highly appreciated their deeds and sacrifice for the freedom of Kosovo.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu were outstanding political activists of the 80s, who were united by the ideal for the freedom of the homeland.
Sadete Zhitia, the sister of the hero Afrim Zhitia, remembered their father's statement when he said that "when the daughters and sons of these heroes who have turned their backs on Serbia grow up and are educated, it will become Albania."
The grandson of the hero Fahri Fazliu, Fahri Fazliu the Younger, said that as family members, they feel happy when they see that 35 years after the death of Afrim and Fahriu, their memory is still honored.
Meanwhile, the historian Durim Abdullahu told the story of the displayed photograph of the martyr Fahri Fazliu. Abdullah emphasized that the deeds done, the actions, the organizations, the books and the many events preserved and narrated by the family members and comrades of the heroes are the contemporary sources of the political history of Kosovo.
Fahriu and Afrimi fell on November 2, 1989, on the Sunny Beach in Pristina, after an unequal fight with enemy forces.
