With the permission of the Special Court, the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, is in Kosovo to visit his family. His stay in Kosovo is being monitored by EULEX and the Kosovo Police.
This has been confirmed for KosovaPress by the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo.
"Due to compelling humanitarian reasons, the Trial Panel has instructed the management of a detention visit to Kosovo for Hashim Thaçi, to meet the family. The accused remains in the custody of the Specialized Chambers. EULEX and the Kosovo Police are supporting the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo", said Angela Griep, head of information at the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo.
Hashim Thaçi has been in the detention center in The Hague since November 2020.
After a preliminary procedure that lasted more than two years, the trial against him, with the allegation of war crimes, began in April of this year.
