August 18 is the International Day of Geology, a science that is used to develop the country through the discovery of underground assets. However, this day is not celebrated in Kosovo.

Geology is the science that studies the Earth in a comprehensive way. It tries to explain how the Earth was formed and how it changes.

This science finds application in the study of solid mineral deposits, petroleum, construction materials, and underground water resources.

Albanian and foreign geologists in Albania have so far discovered 15 oil deposits, 6 gas deposits, 7 bitumen deposits and over 500 mineral deposits.

Whereas, in Kosovo some time ago, a resident of the village of Torina in the Municipality of Lipjan, discovered that there is gas on his land, where it was requested that the relevant institutions conduct a geological study to ascertain the genesis, composition and real potential of the flow of this gas./KosovaPress/
