Pep Guardiola's men, who have been in and out of form this year, opened the scoring at Portmand Road with Foden in the 27th minute, before Kovacic added a second three minutes later after Foden's assist. The latter scored his second and third goals for the 'citizens' in the 42nd minute after De Bruyne's assist.
City continued furiously in the 20 minutes of the second half, scoring three more goals - Doku in the 49th minute, after an assist from De Bryune, Haaland scored for 5:0 in the 57th minute after an assist from Doku, and McAtee made it 6:0, after an assist from Kovačić in the 69th minute.
Ipswich thus suffered their 12th defeat in this edition of the competition and remains in the dangerous zone of the table with only 16 points in 16th position, two more than the penultimate Leicester City and Southampton with six points, a team that has already been almost certainly welcomed by the English football elite.
