Intergovernmental cooperation and fund absorption, key to the economic development of the Balkans
The Albanian Chamber of Commerce discussed on Tuesday investment opportunities through technology and funds dedicated to economic projects, especially in Albanian spaces. Also, the possibilities of absorbing funds from the EU, the model of the countries of the Union of African States, and international lobbying for new recognitions for Kosovo were examined, KosovaPress reports. At the press conference on the topic "International Conference-Kosovo-Albania-Macedonia", governments were asked for more cooperation to support the above-mentioned issues.
The greater support that the state should provide to open up more opportunities for export was also emphasized.
The President of the Albanian Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Hyzer Gashi, said that today's discussion provides an opportunity to unite the economic power possessed by Albanians everywhere. Meanwhile, he said that "the government must wake up from its slumber and create greater economic power" and also support businesses more.
"This platform gives us an opportunity to unite the economic power possessed by Albanians everywhere. The conference is the first of its kind to support each other because time flies and we can concentrate the power we have today on economic development in the countries where we live. "Everyone needs this platform, as there is no other barrier than absorbing these funds, investments that are new technologies, of course the interlocutors will explain them in detail, and to wake up the governments that are sometimes in the process of realizing that we from the business world could take the leading role, since we ourselves create the economic power of the countries we come from," said Gashi.
Also present at the event was international businessman and ambassador to the African Union for 35 countries at the UN, Avni Nasufoski, who said that reforms are needed to gain support from international partners.
"Today, we are not alone in the Balkans. The golden age of the Balkans has arrived. But, if we want international partners to support us, we must definitely make reforms. For what reason? In political and economic terms, you already know – there are economic experts among you – that the European Union has allocated 6 billion euros in donations. But every donation requires reform. This means that projects must be completed and the EU reimburses them down to the last penny. And, I know exactly what I'm talking about. In 2003, unfortunately, Kosovo only managed to benefit from around 80 million euros in donations from the European Union... "I hope that together we can find common ground for cooperation with the governments of Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina," he said.
And the president of PPS Universal Distrib, Btissam Daif, spoke about electricity, KosovaPress writes. "In rural areas, but also in other areas, we can see that today electricity is expensive, civil engineering is expensive, and having well-lit streets remains a safety issue for the population. In this technological context, we can also think of another quite revolutionary technology, which has already existed in more than 85 countries for over 35 years. It is a hydro-retentive fertilizer, called 'Barbarie Plante', which helps achieve food sovereignty. "This is a fertilizer that has been tested in some of the driest areas of the world and has yielded excellent results in more than 85 countries, with reports confirmed by the World Food Bank and by countries that have managed to develop their agriculture thanks to this technology," she said.
Safet Sadiku from the Albanian Chamber of Commerce also emphasized the need for direct cooperation between governments to utilize the countries' model in implementing the funds.
"Using the model of different countries, even any country here in the region, the specific funds that we have contacts with usually require direct cooperation with the country's governments, which in our Balkan countries has been difficult. Now the indirect form is the private project, whether through a public-private partnership or people who have the documentation ready. "Usually, green energy or even solar energy, solar panels, and other forms of energy have been updated, which for certain funds are attractive and much more functional," he said.
