A suspected suicide bomber targeted a paramilitary convoy in southwestern Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least five people, including three Frontier Corps troops, and wounding more than 43 others, military and police officials said. A vehicle-borne suicide bomber reportedly rammed a car packed with explosives into the Frontier Corps convoy in Nushki, a remote area in Balochistan province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, KosovaPress reports. Nushki police chief Hashim Momand confirmed that more than 30 paramilitary personnel were among the wounded. In a subsequent security operation, three suspected terrorists were killed, the military added. Security forces suspect the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, is behind the latest bombings. The attack comes just days after heavily armed BLA militants hijacked a passenger train in the Bolan region of Balochistan, killing 26 passengers and five troops. The Pakistani military later killed 33 suspected militants in a day-long counter-terrorism operation. Officials fear the death toll could rise as some of the injured remain in critical condition at the Nushki civil hospital. Pakistan has witnessed a resurgence of violence in recent months, particularly in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a separate incident overnight, two policemen and a private security guard were killed in targeted attacks in the Karak and Peshawar districts, police confirmed. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a coalition of militant networks operating in Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attacks, AA reports.
