The financial dimension of full membership in the Schengen area is on average around 300 million additional Bulgarian leva, said the acting Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev on Thursday.

He said that a preliminary analysis was done in the Tourism Policy Directorate of the Ministry, which shows that the direct benefits for tourism in the coming years amount to an average of 300 million additional leva or 153 million euros.

"This is the financial dimension of the Schengen area. The security that being part of this area gives us is a very important factor for tourism. The best message that Bulgaria can send to the world in 2025 is that it is not just a destination wonderful tourist destination, but also a safe destination. Our presence in the Schengen area is a guarantee of this security", said Milloshev.

"Even the most wonderful country in the world, if it is not safe, if it does not feel safe, especially if it goes on tourism and vacations, it becomes unpopular", he emphasized.

Miloshev mentioned the fact that Bulgaria already has access to three seas, which represents a good opportunity for Bulgarians to travel freely, but also for foreigners to come and enjoy the extraordinary beauties of Bulgarian nature, alongside the rich cultural heritage and historical. /BTA
