Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi said that a balanced approach to the parties in the dialogue is a prerequisite for success.

He congratulated Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen - the successor to the European Union's envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajak - on his new post.

"Congratulations to Peter Sorensen on his appointment as the new EUSR for the dialogue process. We wish him a successful mandate as a facilitator, with a balanced approach to the parties and negotiations as a key prerequisite for a successful process towards the full normalization of relations," Bislimi wrote on the X platform.

Sorensen was selected by the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

He will start work at the beginning of February.

The mandate of the current EU envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, will end on January 31.

Leading with Lajcak in this process, Kosovo and Serbia have reached the Brussels Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Annex in 2023, but have not yet found a implementation.

Kosovo and Serbia have been negotiating for the normalization of relations since 2011.

A new and more equal approach is expected in Kosovo from Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen.

However, according to analysts, the bloc must completely redesign the dialogue and not just change the names that facilitate this process.
