During his speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations, the president of the United States of America, Joe Biden, said that supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russian invasion is "not only an investment in the future of Ukraine, but in the future of every country" that appreciates the UN's basic rules of sovereignty and territorial integrity "that apply equally to all nations" large and small.
"We strongly support Ukraine in its efforts to bring about a diplomatic solution that brings lasting peace. Only Russia is responsible for this war. Only Russia has the power to end this war immediately," Biden said, CNN reports.
"And it is only Russia that stands in the way of peace. Because Russia's price for peace is the capitulation of Ukraine, Ukraine's territory and Ukraine's children," Biden added.
The US president said that Moscow "believes that the world will tire and allow it to brutalize Ukraine without consequences".
Biden suggested that no member state of the United Nations would feel safe if Ukraine was allowed to "separate."
"We must confront this blatant aggression today and deter other potential aggressors tomorrow. That is why the United States, along with our allies and partners around the world, will continue to stand with the brave people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity and their freedom,” he added.
