Kosovo needs an essential political change to move forward on its path towards integration into the European Union and NATO, says candidate for MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ali Berisha.
Berisha, who is running under the number 9 in the February 23 elections, says that the poor situation in which the country is currently located has pushed him to run for deputy of the Kosovo Assembly.
Berisha has set himself the goal of raising all the concerns of Kosovo citizens from his seat in parliament.
"I believe it is an extremely important situation today to be a member of the Assembly of Kosovo and to contribute to an eventual positive change that will happen in Kosovo. Since I think, not only me, but a large part of my colleagues, we think that Kosovo needs a change because Kosovo is currently not doing well in many aspects of its development. It is not doing well in the economic aspect, it is not doing well in terms of its vision for integration, whether European or Euro-Atlantic, it is not doing well in health, it is not doing well in education, and in many other aspects. The economy is also currently not doing well because it is not sufficiently supported by the Government of Kosovo, large and small businesses do not have adequate support, while large businesses are being insulted and denigrated. And based on all of this, I have run for a member of the Assembly of Kosovo and I believe that all of these concerns of the citizens of Peja will be raised in the Assembly of Kosovo, so that there will be a better future for the state of Kosovo", he points out.
The former mayor of Peja declares that Kosovo needs an essential political change in order to return to its vision and Euro-Atlantic orientation."Kosovo currently needs change. Kosovo, in recent years, has primarily lacked a vision for its future. Kosovo has lost its vision, meaning we do not have the friends we had until now, for many years many countries that have been partners of Kosovo have helped Kosovo, helped in its liberation, helped in the creation of the army, in the creation of institutions. Whereas, today Kosovo is under sanctions which is an absurdity in itself, and this in a way is harming Kosovo more and more every day. Therefore, Kosovo needs an essential political change in order to return to its vision, its orientation towards those states, towards those countries that have helped Kosovo get here. And also, it is important to integrate into EU institutions but also into security institutions, especially Euro-Atlantic ones, so that once and for all we have security and all other aspects, and to live as the whole world lives", says the candidate for deputy from the ranks of AAK.
Berisha, who is known as a war doctor, believes that now is the time to depoliticize and decentralize the healthcare system.
"The first priority is that development should not be oriented solely on the political aspect. You see that Peja and this region have not had any real investment. Not a single meter of highway has been built in this part of Dukagjini in the past four years. You have seen the condition of the road connecting Kiev with Peja, and the citizens of Peja have an extremely difficult time getting to Pristina or even further. Healthcare, in particular, is very centralized and I believe that not only me, but all those who are healthcare workers should raise their voices for the depoliticization and decentralization of healthcare. There should be more investments in healthcare, we should have health insurance, we should contribute to the Health Information System being more functional so that healthcare can once and for all be better and serve all citizens." says Berisha.
The candidate for deputy from the ranks of AAK, Ali Berisha, is running with the number 23.
AAK is in coalition with the Social Democratic Initiative, the Conservatives, and the E30-Ideal Intellectual Forum. The campaign for the general elections in Kosovo began on January 11, while the elections will be held on February 9.
