The chairman of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats, Lulzim Basha, participated in the tributes being held today in honor of the genius of Albanian literature, Ismail Kadare, who passed away at the age of 88.

Basha said that this is a great loss for Albanian literature.

According to Basha, Kadare showed the world the European identity of the Albanian nation.

"Kadare has ascended to the Pantheon of eternity as the man who, in the most difficult time for the Albanian nation, reminded his compatriots and the whole world that we are one of the nations of the European identity and the formation of the European identity. This at a time when every effort was made to destroy the connections of Albanians with their habitat, which is Europe", said Basha.

The head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats further had an appeal for the young men and women in Albania.

"I had a message for young people, to try to read even a poem or a novel by Ismail Kadare that will transform them, to understand their value as Albanians, even as individuals", said Basha./ATSH
