The Day of the Albanian Alphabet, which was unified 116 years ago in the Congress of Manastir, has been announced to be a traditional holiday and to be echoed throughout the Albanian territory. However, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the Academy of Sciences have not seen the way to organize any activity.
KosovaPress has reviewed whether Kosovo's institutions have planned any activities for this holiday, but it turns out that there will be no organizations.
The only organization for this day was organized by the Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians. This institute opened the Alphabet Days with the central theme "The multidimensional profile of the writer Ismail Kadare". The event was attended by political representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, scientific researchers and family members of the Qiriazi family.
In his introductory speech, the director of the institute, Skender Asani, emphasized that the Alphabet Congress has served as a unifying event for Albanians and a bridge of communication with Balkan neighbors and European friends.
Meanwhile, the first deputy prime minister of the RMV, Izet Mejhiti, described this event as an important link of the Albanian cultural heritage and a reminder of the responsibility that political office bearers have for the preservation of cultural heritage.
The representative of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, Blazhe Boev, said that the use of the mother tongue is a fundamental right and that the development of linguistic diversity in Macedonia is a value that enriches the country.
Meanwhile, academician Gëzim Hoxha, representative of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Albania, emphasized the symbolism of the Monastery Congress as a factor of national unification which continues to serve as a factor of cohesion among Albanians wherever they are.
An important part of the event was the inauguration of the fifth edition of Alphabet Days by the editor-in-chief and research associate of ITSHKSH Hidajete Azizi, this edition summarizing the scientific activities from this same event last year.
During the Alphabet Days, from November 14 to 22, researchers from Tirana, Prishtina and the country will treat the figure of Ismail Kadare with different and unique approaches, analyzing him from different perspectives, and it is expected that this event will have a rich and quite special content.
The Congress of the Monastery took place between November 14-22, 1908. It was attended by 50 delegates from 26 different cities, clubs and associations. In this Congress was approved the decision to accept the Latin alphabet with some changes of letters by adapting them to the Albanian language.
In Bitola, at that time, Albanian intellectuals from all Albanian lands participated, as the city was the center of consuls and was safer for the progress of this important national process.
Mithat Frashëri was elected President of the Congress, while Luigj Gurakuqi and Gjergji Qiriazi were vice-presidents, while his sister Parashqevi Qiriazi was the only woman in this Congress.
According to the number and importance of the participants, the Congress of Manastir was the most important event of the Albanian people at the beginning of the 28th century, where as a result of this work, on November 1912, XNUMX, the independence of Albania was announced.
For Macedonian Albanians, this is a holiday and no work, while the Museum of the Alphabet of the Albanian Language operates in Manastir, in which there are about 56 photographs of the participants and 230 documents in digital and paper form. /KosovaPress/
