The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, has reacted after the new indictment against the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, by the Special in The Hague.
Krasniqi has said that this new indictment raises concerns about the approach and focus of these judicial procedures by the Special Court.
"The latest announcement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, that an indictment for obstruction of justice has been added to President Hashim Thaçi, while he has already been in custody for four years, raises concerns about the approach and focus of these judicial procedures. These concerns are further deepened by the arrest of three other personalities, as well as by the summons to appear before the Specialized Chambers for Mr. Hajredin Kuçi", wrote Krasniqi.
He wrote that they strongly support the principles of justice and accountability, 'but a simple and critical question is raised tonight: Is this justice process reflecting the impartiality and professionalism that Kosovo, its citizens and our liberators in The Hague deserve?'He further wrote that "We appeal to the Specialized Chambers to act with maximum responsibility! Their decisions should be based only on facts and legal principles. Justice should never be used as a tool to rewrite history or to dispute the sacrifices of those who fought for the freedom of Kosovo. We demand justice and only justice, while we stand strongly against any action that violates this fundamental and inviolable principle for every citizen of Kosovo".
The former mayor of the Municipality of Malisheva, Isni Kilaj, Bashkim Smakaj, the former adviser to the president Hashim Thaçi and the former member of the KLA, Fadil Fazliu, were transferred today to The Hague, from the EULEX offices, where they were kept by yesterday.
