Albanian MP Shaip Kamberi has accused official Belgrade of continuous violations of rights in the Presheva Valley, ignoring the recommendations of the European Union in fulfilling the objectives of the "Action Plan for the Integration of Albanians".

He reminded that Serbia is hindering the realization of this plan, which was also mentioned in the Progress report of the European Commission for 2024.

In the Progress report for Serbia, in the chapter on minority rights, the EC, in addition to the issue of passivation, hate speech, also places special emphasis on the position of under-representation of Albanians in the public administration and the police.

The EC, on this occasion, requires immediate action to fulfill the objectives of the "Action Plan for the Integration of Albanians", but despite this, minorities remain under-represented in the public administration and the police.

It is a document signed between the Albanian National Council, headed by Ragmi Mustafi, the OSCE, and the Ministry for Human Rights, supported by the EU delegation in Serbia and the Council of Europe, between which the integration steps are defined. full of Albanians in the public administration and the police in the period 2022-2026, the realization of which, even now, at the end of 2024, has not started, recalls Kamberi.

However, when it comes to taking concrete actions on the ground, the Serbian government acts contrary to these recommendations. The latest case concerns the misdemeanor court in Preševo, at the head of which a Serbian judge has been appointed, ignoring the Albanian judges, Kamberi said.

In the session of November 28 of this year, the High Council of the Judiciary in Serbia appointed Aleksandra Kuzmanović to the head of the Misdemeanor Court in Preševo, a municipality with over 95% Albanians, thus marginalizing the Albanian staff.

The municipal court in Preševo was abolished in 2011, as part of the reform of the judiciary with the motto "Justice closer to the citizen. It is worth mentioning that in Presheva, as well, the acting director of the Health House two years ago appointed a doctor from the Serbian community who make up only 3% of the population of this municipality, ends Kamber's post on Facebook.
