The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has considered last night's explosion in the Ibër-Lepenci canal in Zubin Potok, northern Kosovo, to be a criminal attack. He said that this should be clarified and punished as soon as possible with the support of international partners.

He wrote that "the act of sabotage on the critical water supply infrastructure in the Ibër-Lepenci canal is a serious crime, which affects the lives of the citizens of Kosovo".

In addition, according to him, the act also affects the process of normalization of relations in the region.

"The act of sabotage on the critical water supply infrastructure in the Ibër Lepenci canal is a serious crime, which affects the lives of the citizens of Kosovo and affects the process of normalization of relations in our region, where all countries are involved in the road of integration in the European Union. This criminal attack must be revealed and punished as soon as possible with the support of international partners", wrote Rama.

Rama said that the European Union should immediately remove the remaining sanctions against Kosovo and re-engage in a new dialogue format for normalization between Kosovo and Serbia.

"The existing format has failed to produce the desired results and it is time for the issues of dialogue to pass through the EU's bilateral relations with Kosovo or Serbia, as two equally independent states, where the European fate of each state is not it may depend on the wishes or dislikes of the other state; just as the European fate of the entire region cannot depend on the non-recognition of Kosovo by Serbia or 5 EU member states", said Rama.

On the evening of November 29, an explosion occurred in the village of Varagë in the municipality of Zubin Potok, in the northern part of Kosovo.

The explosion damaged the water channel of Ibër-Lepenci.

The Kosovo authorities have stated that the attack is criminal and terrorist and comes from gangs orchestrated from Belgrade.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the attack was aimed at damaging the infrastructure "perhaps the most important one we have".

From Ibër-Lepenc, several cities in Kosovo are supplied with water from Lake Ujman, as well as the Energy Corporation of Kosovo.
