Kosovo has been declared the Balkan champion of the Special Unifying Football Olympics that took place on Friday in Pristina. The participating teams in this championship have in their compositions football players with mental disabilities who are helped by their assistants on the field.
In addition to Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Albania also participated in this championship, reports KosovaPress.
The president of the Special Olympics of Kosovo, Igballe Potera, at the end of the tournament, said that this tournament was very successful, adding that maximum preparations had been made for Kosovo to be declared champion.
"The Balkan tournament, which we organized for the first time, was an extremely good activity. It does not mean that there is no room to make changes to achieve something even more but we are extremely satisfied with the participants who were here. It was an extremely fair reference with which the players were also extremely satisfied seeing the enthusiasm on their faces, this is more important their participation here that there were also four countries that participated and I believe that in the future they will other countries also participate... We have done a lot, our coaches have done preparations twice a week to achieve this victory", stressed Potera."We had a great time and we are very happy to have this tournament and we will always be happy. We did not know, but fate shot us. A little yes, but it's not related", Haziri stated briefly.
This was the first time that a Balkan championship of this format was organized in Kosovo, which, beyond the competition, also aims to convey the message of tolerance, cooperation and peace without distinction of ability, gender or nationality.
