Economic and commercial cooperation between Kosovo and Albania despite the encouraging trends, it is considered that there are still no satisfactory economic relations between these two countries. Despite the willingness and readiness of businessmen for a stronger cooperation in the economy, the relations between these two countries remain symbolic or are characterized only by import-export commercial exchanges, experts of the economy in Albania and Kosovo estimate, reports KosovaPress.

Trade exchanges between Kosovo and Albania have increased by 15 percent this year. In addition to commercial cooperation, the number of Albanian businesses operating in Kosovo is over 2, while the number of employees is over 7 citizens from Albania. The authorities in Albania have not responded to KosovaPress about the number of Kosovo businesses operating there.

While Albania celebrates the 112th anniversary of Independence, Teuta Nunaj, an expert on the economy in the Albanian state, calls the trade statistics between Kosovo and Albania sensitive. As he adds that strong economic cooperation in these two countries can only be achieved through the implementation of agreements reached over the years by the Albanian governments for the removal of barriers for businesses.

On the other hand, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo, Lulzim Rafuna, says that there is cooperation between the businesses of Kosovo and Albania, but criticizes both Albanian governments for the lack of official meetings.

According to him, the political relations between these two countries would have a positive effect on the economic aspect.

Meanwhile, from the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade in a written response to KosovaPress they say that the total number of Albanian businesses operating in Kosovo is 2 thousand 197, while there are 7 thousand 6 workers from Albania in the labor market in Kosovo.

According to the Bank of Albania, the stock of investments from Kosovo has reached 277 million euros, with an annual increase of 46% in 2023.

Meanwhile, the figures of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) show that by the end of 2023, the stock of Albanian investments in Kosovo was worth 371 million euros.

Meanwhile, the director of Kosovo Customs, Agron Llug, spoke about the trade relations between the two countriesaliu. He says that there has been an increase in commercial exchange with this Albanian state by about 15 percent.

Also, the Customs of Kosovo announced that in the last three years, trade exchanges between Kosovo and Albania have increased. Only in 2022, Kosovo exported 110.6 million euros to Albania, a value which has also increased in 2023, to 112.7 million euros, until this year this value has increased to 149.3 million euros, exports of goods from businesses Kosovo.

On the other hand, the value of imports from this neighboring country has increased for the three-year period. During the year 2022, Kosovo imported from this country over 255 million euros, while this value also increased in 2023, in which it reached over 326 million euros, although so far this year, this value is over 299 million euros.

The Pristina - Durrës highway, which connects Kosovo with Albania, called "Ibrahim Rugova", has facilitated the circulation of goods from both sides.
