The mayor of Presheva, Ardita Sinani, has called the ban on the use of the national flag by Serbia a sad fact. She said that this act clearly represents the systematic oppression of the Albanians of the Presheva Valley and the fading of the identity of the legitimate rights that the Albanians have. In a congratulatory message on November 28, President Sinani said that this year, for the first time, this celebration is being organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania.
The mayor of Presheva, Ardita Sinani, said that they are determined to continue the battle to demand equality and respect.
"Even though Albanians in the Presheva Valley continue to face deep injustices and open discrimination, today more than ever we must stay united. It is a sad fact that only Albanians in Serbia are prohibited from using the National Flag, a sacred symbol that represents our national identity and dignity. This act is a clear expression of systematic systematic oppression that aims to dilute our identity and legitimate rights as a people in these lands," she added.
The mayor of Presheva added that the flag that has flown for centuries as a symbol of unity and resistance will continue to be "a source of inspiration and pride".
