In honor of the anniversary of Albania's independence, the Municipality of Deçan honored the lieutenant colonel of the Albanian army, Besnik Fana, by giving him the title of honorary citizen.

At the solemn meeting for the November holidays, the mayor of Deçan, Bashkim Ramosaj, said that in this way they are honoring the entire Albanian army.

"We have selected Lt. Col. Besnik Fana not as a personal name, but as a name where we honor the Albanian warrior and the Albanian army," said Ramosaj.

Lt. Col. Besnik Fana, who was honored with this title, pledged himself to unsparing work for the good of the country.

"Receiving the title of honorary citizen, especially in Deçan, believe me, it exceeds the limits of emotion. As your youngest citizen, I promise you that commitment and dedication for the good of this country will be unsparing whenever the need arises", said Fana.

Besnik Fana has been honored with over ten different medals.

He started his career in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, participated in eight missions, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.
