The United Nations Development Program in Kosovo (UNDP) will publish on Monday the analysis of the public pulse on the effects of visa liberalization on migration.

The analysis examines the impact of visa liberalization on the economy and explores the demographics of people who have left Kosovo since January 2024, including their gender, ethnicity, age, education, occupation, income level and place of residence, as well as their expectations and plans. .

The analysis is based on a survey of 1.306 participants from seven regions, reflecting gender and ethnic diversity, and addresses questions such as: which countries are most visited after visa waiver and why do people go to those countries?

It includes findings from six focus group discussions with representatives of local and central institutions, including businesses, to assess the possibility of a "brain drain", strategies to mitigate this phenomenon and the impact of labor migration on key sectors such as health , education, energy and information and communication technology.

From January 1, 2024, citizens of Kosovo are using the right to travel without visas to the 29 member countries of the Schengen area, where they can stay 90 days within six months for tourist visits, family or similar matters, but not for work.
