About nine thousand citizens from the Pristina region have been vaccinated against the seasonal flu, while another three thousand doses are still available. The Central Family Medicine Center (KKMF) calls on the most vulnerable groups to be vaccinated by the end of December.
The most vulnerable groups are the elderly, people with chronic diseases and health workers who are in direct contact with patients.
These favor the spread of viruses.
The doctor at the KKMF, Rushit Ismajli, tells KosovaPress that recently the number of patients seeking medical services has increased."Recently, we have had an increased number of patients seeking help in our health institution and because of the season, but also for other reasons, and there has been a load on health services. If we talk about the damages, they are usually not too big caused by the seasonal flu, because the symptoms are simple - fever, cough, muscle pain, throat - it often goes away by itself or with a simple treatment, there is no need to worry a lot, except in very rare cases when they have a very high temperature, have difficulty breathing, have chest pain", says Ismajli.
Ismajli adds that citizens should not take antibiotics without a prescription from health professionals.
Vaccination against seasonal flu is a key measure to prevent the complications that this flu can cause, especially in vulnerable groups.
