The deputy of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Arbëreshë Kryeziu-Hyseni, warns that the Government of Kosovo will not send the draft statute proposed by the EU for the association to the Constitutional Court.

She declares that the establishment of the association, separate from the Basic Agreement of Brussels and the Ohrid Annex, reached in 2023, does not ensure the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. According to her, the signing of the agreement and an equal approach from the EU is needed to advance the dialogue.

Kryeziu-Hyseni, who is also the chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs, tells KosovaPress that the Brussels agreement has the issue of regulating self-management for the Serbian community in Kosovo, but the same has a sequencing order that must be followed.

According to her, the European Union has wasted enough time tolerating Serbia even after successive violations of the agreement.

However, Kryeziu-Hyseni criticizes the European Union and emissary Miroslav Lajçak for an unequal approach to the dialogue, while expressing optimism that such an approach will change after the constitution of the new European Commission.

In addition, she considers it necessary to remove the punitive measures against Kosovo by the new leadership of the European Commission.

The association was updated on October 29 when Albin Kurti said that as prime minister of a democratic republic he cannot form the association of municipalities, which is one of the main demands on Kosovo according to an agreement on the normalization of relations with Serbia.
