Free seasonal flu vaccination continues in health centers throughout Albania.

Vaccination is being carried out among vulnerable groups, such as health personnel, children, pregnant women, the chronically ill and the elderly.

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, appealed to citizens to get vaccinated against the flu.

"Vaccination is the best and safest way to prevent severe forms of influenza. Strengthen your immunity by getting vaccinated," Koçiu said in a post on social networks.

In the video published by Koçiu, the family doctor at health center no. 1 in Tirana said that "seasonal viruses last 3-5 days. A very good option against these viruses is vaccination with the vaccine against the influenza virus. This vaccine is offered free of charge in all primary care health centers for all vulnerable categories such as over 65 years of age and the chronically ill. According to the evaluation of the pediatrician, this vaccine can also be applied to children".

"A special attention in this period is given to patients who are chronically ill, so that they get over these viruses as easily as possible and without complications", said Koçiu.

In the health centers, free vaccination against the flu started on October 7, as the most efficient tool and the best protection against respiratory viruses caused by this virus.

This year, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has provided 20 doses more than a year ago and will continue to be administered to risk groups according to a calendar determined by the health structures.

Within the framework of the National Vaccination Program, 280 doses of vaccines have already been distributed throughout the country.
