The death toll from the floods in Spain is now at least 205, the highest figure in Europe since 1970 when 209 people died in Romania.

The mayor of Alfafar, Juan Ramon Adsuara, in the Valencia region, warned that residents were not getting enough help.

"People are trapped in an extreme situation, they are at home with corpses. It is very sad. We are getting organized, but we are running out of everything. We go by van to Valencia, buy and come back, but here we are totally forgotten," he said.

Terrible floods hit Spain and the Valencia region was hit hardest. Over 200 people died and dozens more are missing.

Residents in the Valencia region have been warned to prepare for more rain and an additional 500 soldiers have been deployed to help with rescue operations.

Authorities have deployed 1700 soldiers to help with clean-up operations, and volunteers and residents have been involved in cleaning up the aftermath of the catastrophic floods.

Some residents accuse the authorities of not being well prepared for the devastating floods and of not warning people enough.

The resident of Valencia, Hector Bolivar (65), said that the warning was sent only at 20:00, even though the heavy rain had started several hours before, writes SkyNews.

The president of Valencia's regional government, Carlos Mazon, said all disaster management protocols had been followed and authorities had started warning people since Sunday.

Amid dissatisfaction with the authorities' efforts to help flood victims, the Madrid City Council this morning sent around 30 emergency workers to Valencia.

Among them are 20 firefighters with six vehicles and 11 health workers from SAMUR - civil protection, along with several vehicles, including a mobile intensive care unit.

Their task will be to pump out flooded areas in buildings in Valencia and the surrounding areas, especially in the Torre de Valencia district, and remove vehicles.

The World Motorcycle Championship season will not end in Valencia on November 17, race officials have announced. The race in Spain has been canceled due to catastrophic flooding and an alternative venue has yet to be decided.

Even before the race in Malaysia, where the second test at the end of the WC will be held this weekend, many runners asked race officials to postpone the race in Valencia because of the natural disasters in Spain.

After consulting with the local organizers and considering all aspects of the possible development of the race regardless of the consequences of the floods, it was concluded that Valencia will not host the race.

About 75,000 households are still without electricity in Valencia, so firefighters have started pumping gasoline from cars abandoned by the floods into generators.

The Spanish Ministry of Defense sent 500 extra soldiers to Valencia, which was hit hardest by the floods. About 1200 soldiers have already helped in rescue and clean-up operations. They work with the support of almost 400 vehicles, 20 helicopters, 18 drones and more than 50 dogs from the canine unit.

There is also a team of psychologists in the area to provide assistance to residents and soldiers working at the scene.
