Referring to allegations of mistreatment by the police in North Mitrovica related to an incident in "Car Lazari" square on October 26, 2024, IPK investigators have today recommended the suspension of a sergeant and a police officer at the regional police directorate in this municipality.

The recommendation for suspension was made in the interest of the investigation with the suspicion that the same are involved in the mistreatment of a citizen.

The Police Inspectorate warns that, within the framework of legal authorizations, it will undertake other investigative actions in coordination with the competent prosecution to clarify the circumstances of the case.

According to official reports, the incident is reported to have occurred when the police arrested and escorted the person with the initials MS to the police station on the suspicion that he damaged the property of a private store in the presence of police officers.

PIK investigators had previously warned that they will conduct a preliminary investigation in relation to the case.
