The ruling party, Vetëvendosja Movement, says they still have the parliamentary majority in the Assembly of Kosovo. The vice-president of this party, at the same time the speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjfuca, declares that the LVV together with the coalition partners from the non-majority communities have 61 deputies. However, according to the opposition parties, it remains to be seen in the next plenary session whether the LVV will be able to approve the draft laws with a simple majority, where the vote of 61 deputies is needed. The opposition appeared divided on whether to vote on the laws sponsored by the ruling party, while criticizing the majority for having lost legitimacy in the Assembly.
Konjufca, after the meeting of the Presidency of the Assembly, said that based on the numbers of the parliamentary majority, he believes that the Assembly would be able to function.
Konjfuca also joked with the head of the Parliamentary Group of the PDK, Abelard Tahiri, to whom he addressed saying "should I tell you what I got stuck during the meeting of the presidency". He said that the PDK has the experience of how the Assembly functions even without and after the parliamentary majority, recalling the years 2011-2014, when in the last year the governing coalition had only 57 deputies in the Assembly.
But according to him, at that time the LDK, although in the opposition, was constructive by voting for over 70 laws. However, the head of the LDK Parliamentary Group, Arben Gashi, reacted quickly, calling these statements shameful.
He said that calling the LDK as rebels, while it has been constructive, is incorrect.
Meanwhile, the head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, Besnik Tahiri, said that the parliamentary majority in the Assembly has lost its legitimacy.
On the other hand, the majority did not participate in four extraordinary sessions of the Assembly called by the opposition./KosovaPress/
