IPK launches investigations into allegations of mistreatment of a citizen in North Mitrovica

The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (IPK) has warned that it will verify the claims of a Serbian citizen from North Mitrovica that he was mistreated by police officials.

The inspectorate said that the incident happened around 03:00 am on Saturday, when the Kosovo Police arrested and escorted a citizen to the station under suspicion of property damage in a private store in the presence of the police. He was issued a misdemeanor ticket and then released.

"The Police Inspectorate has officially started the process of gathering information and preliminary investigation regarding allegations of ill-treatment by the police, allegations that were made public today in various media and there was a reaction from the civil society in North Mitrovica. Through a preliminary investigation, IPK investigators will verify the allegations of ill-treatment of the same by the police during the undertaking of police actions in this incident", the announcement states.
