Mountaineers are rescued after being trapped for three days on a mountain in India

British citizen Fay Manners, 37, and American Michelle Dvorak, 31, were hiking on Mount Chaukhamba in northern India when they ran into trouble.
It was feared the two experienced climbers would not make it back up after their gear fell into a gorge, leaving them trapped, reports The Sun.
They sent a distress signal to their base camp before authorities were finally able to stage a rescue.
Both appeared unharmed and in good spirits. The rescue operation began on October 4 and they battled bad weather and took 80 hours before it was successful, reports India's News Agency IANS.
The rescue operation was carried out by the Indian Air Force, local disaster response forces, the army and the local administration.
"The rescue of two foreign climbers (US and UK) from the Chaukhamba III trek in Uttarakhand's Chamoli is a testament to the resilience and capability of the Indian Air Force, along with the collaborative efforts of SDRF, NIM and French climbers," it said. The Indian Air Force in a statement.
